The still & heavy darkness shrouded the earth. Far away in the horizon the gloomy rain clouds pregnant with a rain – gliding lazily through the skies. The lovely Moon not to be seen around. The oceans roaring and lashing the shore with its violent waves: for the sins committed in the broad day light. The twitter of the night bird: the glow of the fireflies, the night breeze on the reeds, the strange scents of the grass seed and the silence struggling to take command. The occasional clasps of thunder tearing the skies, with lightening lighting burning the darkness away. The listless soul – wandering on, with nothing to do and nothing done, driven by destiny, like a dry leaf blown by the wind Nowhere to go, nothing to do, no one to befriend - and all alone Balakrishna Gopinath
Essentially, a nincompoop is a fool, a stupid person whose incompetence or naïveté is quite apparent. It is often used to describe people of a much lower social ranking, although some may describe an unpopular or incompetent leader as an "utter nincompoop." It is conceivable that the originator of "nincompoop" was seeking to combine several unsophisticated words into one nonsensical but descriptive word.
